Wheaton College (Ill.) Baseball Player Joel Pierce Named to All-CCIW Team

Wheaton College baseball player Joel Pierce of Centennial, Colorado, was recently named to the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) team.

Pierce picked up Second Team All-CCIW recognition this year for his breakout freshman season. The Thunder first baseman hit a team-leading .357 batting average (30-for-84) in CCIW play this season. He led Wheaton with 15 RBI against conference foes and also had team-highs in slugging percentage (.476), doubles (six) and triples (two). He tallied at least one hit in 19 of Wheaton's 24 CCIW games this season and recorded nine multi-hit games in league competition. Overall this season, Pierce hit for a .336 batting average (40-of-119), registering a .429 slugging percentage, with 19 RBI and 16 runs scored.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
