Wheaton College (Ill.) Baseball Player Michael McCraith Named CCIW Pitcher of the Year

Wheaton College sophomore Michael McCraith of Evans, Georgia, was named 2017 Pitcher of the Year by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).

McCraith, a First Team All-CCIW honoree this year, posted a 6-0 record in six conference starts this season, with a 0.64 ERA. His ERA is the lowest ERA in CCIW play since 1991. McCraith held CCIW opponents to a .166 batting average this season, striking out 46 league foes and walking just 11 in 42 innings pitched. Overall for the year, McCraith posted a 9-1 record with a 2.87 ERA in 69 innings on the mound. He tallied a .189 opponent batting average this season, with 74 strikeouts and 25 walks. McCraith's nine wins this season ranks 10th in Division III and he is 24th among all Division III pitchers with an average of 6.13 hits per nine innings.
