Wheaton College (Ill.) Sophomore Sarah Frey Honored as CCIW Player of the Week

Wheaton College sophomore Sarah Frey of Lutherville, Md. has been named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week on offense in women's soccer, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Frey and the Thunder posted a 2-0 record last week. Wheaton is now 2-0-0 on the season and is currently ranked sixth in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III rankings.

Frey played a key role in both Wheaton wins last weekend at the season-opening Bob Baptista Invitational, tallying three goals with one assist. In Friday's season-opener against Hope she scored Wheaton's first goal of the match to tie the contest at 1-1, en route to a 4-1 victory against the Flying Dutch. Frey scored two goals and added one assist on Saturday in a 6-2 win against Alma.

As a freshman in 2013, Frey scored four goals with two assists. She appeared in all 24 matches for the Thunder last season, helping lead the team to the NCAA Division III Sectional Finals.

Wheaton will return to action this weekend with match on Friday versus College of St. Scholastica in Moorhead, Minn. The Thunder will take on Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday.
