Wheaton College (Ill.) Student Aston Francis Named CCIW Most Outstanding Player

Wheaton College basketball player Aston Francis of Tyler, Texas, recently received the Fred Young Most Outstanding Player award from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).

Francis was also selected to the CCIW All-Conference team and was a unanimous First Team selection. Francis is averaging 27.4 points per game this season with a school-record 117 three-pointers. The Thunder guard has also distributed 4.48 assists and grabbed 4.8 rebounds per game. Francis leads NCAA Division III in three-pointers per game and he is fourth in the nation in scoring.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
