Wheaton College (Ill.) Student-Athlete Sarah Van Wingerden Recognized by National Soccer Coaches Association of America

Sarah Van Wingerden, a member of the women's soccer team at Wheaton College (Ill.), was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as Second Team All-Region during the fall 2015 semester.

Van Wingerden, of Mahomet, Ill. , is a graduate of Mahomet-Seymour High School in Mahomet, Ill.

The Wheaton women's soccer team won the 2015 CCIW Championship and finished the season with a 16-7 overall record. The Thunder advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament, their 19th-consecutive appearance in the postseason tournament.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III Individual National Championships all-time.
