Wheaton College (Ill.) Student Brooke Barnes Honored as Swimmer of the Week

Wheaton College student Brooke Barnes of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was honored as Swimmer of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

At the recent Phoenix Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Chicago, Barnes won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.13 seconds. Barnes also qualified for the consolation finals of the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing 13th overall with a time of 1:09.73. Her time is more than seven seconds faster than her previous personal best.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
