Wheaton College (Ill.) Student Leif Van Grinsven Named CCIW Track & Field Athlete of the Week

Wheaton College junior Leif Van Grinsven of Franklin, Wisconsin, was named Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Van Grinsven won the men's heptathlon at University of Chicago's "Windy City Rumble" indoor track meet. Van Grinsven set a meet record and established a Wheaton school record with 4,919 points in the event. His effort currently ranks fourth among all Division III competitors in the heptathlon.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
