Wheaton College (Ill.) Student Matt Robertson Inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma National Honor Society

Wheaton College student Matt Robertson of Round Rock, Texas was recently inducted into the Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Honor Society. This honor was announced by the Physics Department at Wheaton College's Honors Convocation.

To be inducted into the Wheaton Sigma Pi Sigma Chapter, students need to attain high standards of general scholarship and outstanding achievements in physics. Criteria for this award include involvement in summer research, high standards of scholarship and excellent performance as a teaching assistant in the department. Wheaton College is home to one of the oldest chapters of Sigma Pi Sigma; more than 300 people have been inducted into the Wheaton College chapter since its founding in 1931.

Through a combination of rigorous coursework, hands-on laboratory training, and research experience, the Physics Department at Wheaton College prepares students for going on to graduate school, physics teaching, industrial careers, and a variety of other jobs that take advantage of the analytical and problem solving abilities of physicists.
