Wheaton College student Matthew Norton of Shreveport, Louisiana was a member of the 2016 Wheaton Thunder football team.

The Thunder football program reached the quarterfinal round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Football Playoffs and finished the season with an 11-2 overall record.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
