Wheaton College (Ill.) Women's Soccer Team Wins CCIW Tournament Championship

Madison Peebles, a freshman on the Wheaton College women's soccer team, recently helped the Thunder win the 2015 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament championship. Peebles, of Fishers, Ind., is a graduate of Fishers High School in Fishers, Ind.

The Thunder women defeated Illinois Wesleyan 1-0 in a Nov. 7 match to earn their 12th CCIW tournament championship.

The victory also won the team an automatic bid into the 2015 NCAA Divison III Women's Soccer Tournament, their 19th-consecutive appearance in the postseason tournament. The Thunder advanced to the second round of the tournament and finished the season with a 16-7 overall record.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
