Wheaton College (Ill.) Wrestling Team Places Second at CCIW Wrestling Championship

Michael Swider, a senior on the Wheaton College wrestling team, recently helped the Thunder earn second place in the 2016 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) championship. Swider, of Wheaton, Illinois, is a graduate of Wheaton North High School.

The Thunder wrestlers fell just 1.5 points shy of defending their 2015 CCIW title with a second place finish to Elmhurst College. The team followed up the CCIW championship tournament with a third place finish at the 2016 Division III Midwest Regional Wrestling Tournament.

Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The Thunder Athletics program has won five NCAA Division III Championships since 1984, and Wheaton student-athletes have won 31 Division III individual National Championships all-time.
