Favor Ezewuzie named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Track Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year
Wheaton senior Favor Ezewuzie has been named the Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Midwest Region "Track Athlete of the Year" by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). A two-time recipient of the award, Ezewuzie also received the honor in 2019. She is the only Wheaton athlete two rin the regional indoor track athlete of the year award from the USTFCCCA since the organization began awarding it in 2006. Ezewuzie, the "Most Outstanding Track Athlete" at the 2018, 2019 and 2020 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships, recently earned All-Region from the USTFCCCA in four events. Ezewuzie will represent Wheaton this weekend in the 60-meter dash, the 60-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash at the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Ezewuzie posted the fastest time in Division III this season, and the 13th-fastest time in Division III history on Feb. 28 at the CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships. She posted a time of of 8.60-seconds in the event. Her time of 7.57-seconds in the 60-meter dash on February 7 at University of Chicago's "Windy City Rumble" is the second-fastest time in Division III this year. Ezewuzie's school-record effort of 24.05-seconds at the CCIW Championships on February 28 is the third-fastest time in Division III this season. Ezewuzie also posted the eighth-best effort in Division III in the women's long jump event this season with a mark of 5.74-meters (18' 10") at the CCIW Championships.

Nyameye Adom earns All-Region recognition from D3hoops.com
Wheaton sophomore Nyameye Adom has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Central Region Team for the 2019-20 season. Adom's recognition as a Third Team All-Region performer marks the 21st time that a Wheaton player has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Region Team since the website began its All-Region awards in 2001-02. Wheaton has had at least one player on the D3hoops.com All-Region Team in 17 of the 19 seasons that website has had the All-Region recognitions. A unanimous All-CCIW honoree this season, Adom had a breakout sophomore campaign. He is averaging a team-best 18.7 points per game this season, a mark that ranked second in the league. He posted a 46.4% (178-of-384) field goal percentage, including 42.1% (32-of-76) from three-point range, this season. Adom shot 77.3% (99-of-128) at the free throw line. He led the Thunder with 3.7 assists per game and has averaged 4.2 rebounds per game this season. He ranked in the CCIW top-10 in field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage, assists and free throw percentage in his sophomore campaign. In Wheaton's 16 CCIW games this season, Adom averaged 17.5 points per game. His 46.2% (102-of-221) field goal percentage in league games ranked third in the league, and his 46.5% (20-of-43) three-point field goal percentage in league play ranked third. His 4.1 assists per game against conference foes ranked third in the CCIW.

Abygale Ahn named CCIW Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Wheaton freshman Abygale Ahn has been named the CCIW Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon. For Ahn, this is the first weekly conference honor of her career. Ahn posted an overall record of 3-1 last week on Wheaton's annual spring trip. Ahn won both of her matches at number five singles, posting a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lily Brandt of Saint Mary's (Ind.) and a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Morgan Jenkins of Millsaps. With the two singles victories, Ahn wraps up her season with an unblemished 17-0 record in singles play. She also posted an 8-6 victory over Saint Mary's at number one doubles along with Claire Browning.

Hannah Frazier is named a CoSIDA Division III Academic All-American for the second-consecutive year
Hannah Frazier of the Wheaton women's basketball team has been named to the 2019-20 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team for Division III Women's Basketball. A Second Team All-America selection this year, she is a repeat honoree, also earning Second Team recognition in 2018-19. Frazier is the first Wheaton women's basketball player to earn Academic All-America recognition twice in a career. Frazier earned Second Team Academic All-America recognition as a senior Mathematics major at Wheaton with a 3.75 cumulative grade point average. Recently, Frazier was named the 2020 CCIW Lori Kerans Most Outstanding Player, earning the award for the second-consecutive season. The senior led the Thunder in scoring this season with an average of 18.7 points per game and had a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game. Frazier contributed 2.0 blocked shots per game this season and 2.6 assists per game. The Academic All-America program honors student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level in athletics and in the classroom. Members of the eight First Team Academic All-District squads in each Division advance to the national ballot, where they have the opportunity to be selected for the Academic All-America Team. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA; a 2,000-plus member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. Through the years, Wheaton student-athletes have earned a total of 97 Academic All-American selections through the prestigious program. Since 2000, there have been 72 Academic All-American selections from Wheaton. Three Wheaton women's basketball players have earned Academic All-America recognition: Frazier (2019 and 2020), Katie McDaniels (2017) and Janet Ahlborn (1994). To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III, NAIA and junior colleges covering all NCAA championship sports.

Favor Ezewuzie named USTFCCCA D3 Indoor T&F National Athlete of the Week
Wheaton College senior Favor Ezewuzie was named the Division III Female National Athletes of the Week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday morning. This is the first time that Ezewuzie has been named National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season by the USTFCCCA and is the first time in the awards history that a female athlete from the CCIW has earned the honor indoors. Ezewuzie earned the award for her performance last weekend at the 2020 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships. She won four events at the meet: the women's 60-meter dash, the 60-meter hurdles, the 200-meter dash and the long jump. Her remarkable performance earned her the Female Track Athlete of the Meet award, becoming the first student-athlete in CCIW history to win the award in three-consecutive seasons. Her performance in the women's 60M hurdles was a conference and school record time of 8.60-seconds that is fastest in Division III this season and is the 13th-fastest time in Division III history. She also set a conference and school record in the 200-meter with a time of 24.95-seconds that is the third-fastest time in Division III this season.She won the women's 60-meter dash at the CCIW Championships with a time of 7.62-seconds the first conference championship she claimed was in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.74m (18' 10") that ranks eighth in Division III this season.

Wheaton baseball sweeps weekly CCIW awards
After a weekend sweep of action over Loras College and Greenville University, the Thunder baseball team followed with a sweep of the weekly CCIW awards. Senior catcher Sam Reichert and sophomore pitcher David Solfelt were named the Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respecitively, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. For both players, this is their first career weekly honor from the conference. David Solfelt tossed five shutout innings in his first collegiate start on the mound. The sophomore right-hander scattered just two hits in total after retiring the first 11 Greenville batters he faced. Solfelt struck out eight Panther hitters and did not issue a walk.

Wheaton baseball sweeps weekly CCIW awards

For both players, this is their first career weekly honor from the conference. Sam Reichert led the Thunder in most offensive categories over the weekend. The Wheaton backstop batted .583 (7-for-12) at the plate with a slugging percentage of 1.083. Four of his seven hits went for extra bases including three doubles and a home run. Reichert also scored five runs and drove in five runs. After a three-hit opener against Loras that included two doubles and a home run, Reichert added two hits with three runs scored in the nightcap of the double header, and added two hits with three runs driven in against Greenville on Saturday.

Hannah Frazier is named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the second time this season
Senior forward Hannah Frazier has been named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the second time this season. She also picked up the recognition on January 27, 2020 Frazier averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocked shots per game in Wheaton victories against Carroll and North Central last week. Frazier scored 22 points on 56.3% (9-of-16) shooting last Saturday in a victory against North Central that secured an outright CCIW Championship for the Thunder. She grabbed nine rebounds, with three blocked shots and three steals in the victory against the Cardinals. Last Wednesday in a victory at Carroll, Frazier scored 18 points, with six rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots. The First Team All-American is averaging team-highs of 18.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season for the Thunder. She also adds 2.0 blocked shots per game. In three seasons at Wheaton, Frazier has scored 1,431 points with 539 rebounds and 185 blocked shots. Frazier is ranked fifth in program history in career points and career blocked shots, and is 16th in career rebounds. Her 84.1% (354-421) career free throw percentage is tied for first in program history. Wheaton, the 2019-20 CCIW Champion, hosts the 2020 CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament this weekend in King Arena.

Wheaton places three on the 2019-20 All-CCIW Women's Basketball Team
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its All-Conference women's basketball team on Tuesday afternoon, with four members of the CCIW Champion Wheaton College women's basketball team earning selections. Hannah Frazier, Hannah Williams and Kirsten Madsen each earned All-CCIW recognition. Senior Kirsten Madsen picked up Second Team All-CCIW recognition for the first time in her career. Madsen is averaging 9.5 points per game this season, leading the Thunder with 52 three-point field goals. Madsen is shooting 39.7% (52-of-131) from three-point range and 86.5% (32-of-37) at the free throw line. Madsen adds 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. In Wheaton's 16 conference contests this season, Madsen averaged 10.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. She shot a team-best 42.7% (38-of-89) three-point field goal percentage in league play this season and shot 85.7% (24-of-28) at the free throw line.

Wheaton places three on the 2019-20 All-CCIW Women's Basketball Team
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its All-Conference women's basketball team on Tuesday afternoon, with four members of the CCIW Champion Wheaton College women's basketball team earning selections. Hannah Frazier, Hannah Williams and Kirsten Madsen each earned All-CCIW recognition. Junior guard Hannah Williams earned Second Team All-CCIW honors for the second-consecutive season. Williams is second on the team in scoring with 11.1 points per game and adds 3.8 assists per contest. Williams has a team-high 40% (28-of-70) effort from three-point range this season. In Wheaton's 16 CCIW games this season, Williams averaged 11.6 points per game, with 3.9 rebounds per game. She led the Thunder in assists in conference play, averaging 4.2 assists per game against CCIW foes.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its All-Conference women's basketball team on Tuesday afternoon, with four members of the CCIW Champion Wheaton College women's basketball team earning selections. Hannah Frazier, Hannah Williams and Kirsten Madsen each earned All-CCIW recognition. Frazier was honored as the Lori Kerans CCIW Most Outstanding Player for the second-consecutive year. Additionally, Thunder head coach Kent Madsen was tabbed as the Beth Baker Coach of the Year for the second-straight year as well. Frazier repeats as the conference's Lori Kerans Coach of the Year Award winner. Her selection marks the eighth time a player from Wheaton has received the CCIW's Most Outstanding Player award, joining: Jeanine Jankovsky (1992); Kerry Cole (1999); Sarah Clark (2004); Jill Trenz (2005); Laura Karsten (2011); Katie McDaniels (2016 & 2017). Frazier winning the award in back-to-back seasons marks only the fifth time that has occurred since the award was created in 1987 as she joins fellow two-time winners: Julie Roe of Millikin (1996 & 1997); Lindsay Ippel from Millikin (2007 & 2008); Stephanie Kuzmanic of Carthage (2013 & 2014) and Wheaton's Katie McDaniels (2016 & 2017) Frazier leads the Thunder with 18.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season. She also adds 2.0 blocked shots per game and 2.6 assists per game. In conference play, Frazier averaged 17.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She also contributed 2.1 blocked shots and 2.4 assists per game against league foes this season.
