Hannah Frazier named CCIW Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season
Senior forward Hannah Frazier is this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week in women's basketball, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Frazier has earned the recognition twice this season, and she is an nine-time recipient of the CCIW's Player of the Week award. She also earned the recognition on November 12, 2019; February 11, 2019; February 4, 2019; December 31, 2018; December 17, 2018; Jan. 8, 2018; Jan. 15, 2018, Feb. 2, 2018 and December 17, 2018. Frazier averaged 24.7 points and 8.3 rebounds for the Thunder last week. She scored a career-high 38 points, with 13 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block in a 73-70 win at UC-Santa Cruz on Friday. Frazier scored 28 points, five rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in a three-point loss to Birmingham-Southern on Saturday. Earlier in the week, she had eight points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 66-54 win at Dominican (Ill.).

Isaac Odell named the CCIW Wrestler of the Week
Wheaton senior Isaac Odell was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday. Odell is the first wrestler to earn the recognition for the 2019-20 season. This selection marks the third time that Odell has earned the award, also picking up the recognition on November 6, 2019 and December 12, 2018. Odell opened the 2019-20 season by claiming the 184-pound title at the Messiah Invitational last Saturday. He recorded a four-pin performance en route to the individual title, beginning with a fall in 1:30 over Messiah's Spencer Clements, followed by a fall in 0:59 over Elizabethtown's Jakob Latham in the quarterfinals. Odell then pinned Ursinus' Kyle Schaffer in 4:18, followed by a fall in 6:57 over Johns Hopkins' Nathan Wertheimer in the championship. This was the second-straight year that Odell won the 184-pound title with four pins at the Messiah Invitational.

Isabelle Oliver is named the CCIW Women's Soccer Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Thunder junior Isabelle Oliver has been named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Oliver, a five-time recipient of the award, is picking up the recognition for the first time this season. Oliver scored four goals and added two assists for the Thunder last week, helping Wheaton to a 2-0-0 record. She had a goal and two assists in a 5-1 win at Carthage last Wednesday that clinched Wheaton a share of the CCIW regular season title. She followed up with a hat trick in a 9-0 win over North Park on November 1. The win over the Vikings earned the Thunder their 21st title in program history and fourth-straight CCIW Championship. Oliver is tied for Wheaton's team lead with seven goals this year. She has three assists this season with 17 total points on the year.

Frazier is an eight-time recipient of the CCIW's Player of the Week award, also earning the recognition on February 11, 2019; February 4, 2019; December 31, 2018; December 17, 2018; Jan. 8, 2018; Jan. 15, 2018, Feb. 2, 2018 and December 17, 2018. Frazier and the Thunder opened the 2019-20 with a 66-62 victory against 12th-ranked UT-Dallas last Saturday. The senior scored 26 points, as she shot 3-of-4 from three-point line and was a perfect 13-of-113 at the free throw line. She grabbed seven rebounds, blocked four shots and dished out three assists in the victory against the Comets.

Colleen Smith and Allie High earn All-CCIW volleyball recognition
Two members of the Wheaton volleyball team earned recognition on the 2019 All-CCIW Volleyball Team, as announced by the conference earlier today. Sophomore Colleen Smith and freshman Allie High were each Second Team selections. High had an impressive freshman season for the Thunder. She led Wheaton with 5.66 digs per set, a mark that ranks 34th in Division III in the category. High had just 17 reception errors on 510 reception attempts this year for a reception percentage of 96.7%. High led the CCIW in digs per set in conference matches this season. The rookie averaged 6.0 digs per set in Wheaton's eight CCIW contests this year.

Colleen Smith and Allie High earn All-CCIW volleyball recognition
Two members of the Wheaton volleyball team earned recognition on the 2019 All-CCIW Volleyball Team, as announced by the conference earlier today. Sophomore Colleen Smith and freshman Allie High were each Second Team selections. Smith picks up Second Team All-CCIW honors for the second-consecutive season. Smith led the Thunder with 242 kills in 30 matches this season, as she averaged 2.30 kills per set. Smith was third on the team with an average of 2.25 digs per set and she had a 94.7% service reception percentage. Smith ranked 10th in the CCIW in kills per set in CCIW play this season with 2.46 kills per set in conference play. She was eighth in the CCIW in points, with 3.04 per set in league matches.

Justin Hill, AJ Moyes and Silas Galvao earn All-CCIW men's soccer honors
Three members of the Wheaton men's soccer team were named to the 2019 All-CCIW Men's Soccer Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Juniors Justin Hill and AJ Moyes joined freshman Silas Galvao on the Second Team. Addtionally Galvao was recognized as the CCIW Newcomer of the Year. Hill and Moyes both earn their All-CCIW recognition as defenders. Hill is a repeat selection, also earning All-Second Team honors in 2018. Hill and Moyes keyed a Wheaton defense that allowed 21 goals in 18 matches, for a 1.10 goals allowed averaged. The Thunder recorded seven shutouts this season. In eight CCIW matches, the Thunder allowed 11 goals with a 1.30 goals against average in conference play.

Wheaton's Rutledge named CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Week
Wheaton sophomore Abigail Rutledge was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday. A native of Cary, North Carolina and Panther Creek High School, Rutledge won two events during the Thunder's dual meeet against Calvin on Saturday as she clocked in-season bests in both races. She edged out Calvin's Robyn Ellens by only 0.10 to win the 500-yard freestyle in 5:27.06. Rutledge was also a winner in the 200-yard buttlerfly with a time of 2:14.92, which is now the top time in the CCIW by five seconds.

Three members of the Wheaton men's soccer team were named to the 2019 All-CCIW Men's Soccer Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Juniors Justin Hill and AJ Moyes joined freshman Silas Galvao on the Second Team. Addtionally Galvao was recognized as the CCIW Newcomer of the Year. Galvao, a forward, picked up Second Team All-CCIW recognition and the CCIW Newcomer of the Year award for a strong freshman season in 2019. Galvao is the the second Wheaton player to earn the Newcomer of the Year award since it began in 2012. Wheaton's Marshall Hollingsworth won the inaugural Newcomer of the Year award in 2012. Galvao led the Thunder with a team-high six goals this season. His four assists tied for the team lead and his 16 total points led the Thunder. In conference play, Galvao scored three goals with two assists.

Wheaton's Maggie Franke named CCIW Swimmer of the Week
Wheaton's Maggie Franke was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday. Franke, a senior from Plymouth, Minnesota and Wayzata High School, opened the 2019-20 season with a pair of un-tapered best times during the Thunder's dual meet against the University of Chicago on Saturday. She finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.80 and second in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 54.40. Franke now leads the CCIW in the 100-yard freestyle.

Wheaton's Dawson Bremner named CCIW Men's Swimmer of the Week
Wheaton's Dawson Bremner was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Swimmer and Women's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday. Bremner, a freshman from Cedar Falls, Iowa and Cedar Falls High School, kicked off his collegiate career with two lifetime bests and just missed a lifetime best in a third event during the Thunder's dual meet against the University of Chicago on Saturday. He dropped nearly four seconds in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.01), and dropped a full second in the 100-yard butterfly, splitting a time of 51.63 on the 400-yard medley relay. Bremner missed a lifetime best in the 200-yard IM by 0.5 seconds, clocking a time of 2:01.2.

Marin Halvorsen wins second straight CCIW title
An electric opening nine holes set up a high-stakes finish on the final day of action at the 2019 CCIW Women's Golf Championship. Starting the day two strokes behind Carthage's Adrienne Rohwedder, Halvorsen finished the day with a one-over par 73 to record a one-shot victory over Rohwedder. Halvorsen becomes the first women's golfer since Lindsay Haines (Illinois Wesleyan) in 2008-09 to win individual medalist honors and is the first to do so since the tournament switched to the current three-round format. The Thunder junior is just the third women's golfer in CCIW history to record multiple CCIW Championships. Halvorsen came charging on Saturday, recording a birdies on the par-three third and par-three eighth holes. After a bogey on the ninth, she dropped to two-under for the day again with a birdie on the par-four 11th. With the finishing stretch playing tough all afternoon, three bogeys dropped Halvorsen to one-over on the day and set the mark at seven-over for the weekend.

Wheaton's Audrey Gerze is named the CCIW Player of the Week on offense
Outside hitter Audrey Gerze was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week in volleyball by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. The sophomore helped lead Wheaton to a 2-1 record last week as the Thunder earned victories against Lake Forest College and Albion College. Gerze averaged 3.67 kills per game in Wheaton's three matches last week. She had a team-high 16 kills, with a .303 (16-6-33) attack percentage last Wednesday in a 3-1 Thunder victory at Lake Forest.. On Friday, she led the Thunder to a 3-0 victory against Albion with a team-high 15 kills and a .286 (15-5--35) attack percentage. Additionally, she two service aces and 11 digs in the win against the Britons. In Wheaton's final match last week, she had 13 kills and 21 digs against Dubuque. Gerze is averaging 2.0 kills per game this season for the Thunder.

Phillip Nichols named the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week & to the D3football.com Team of the Week
Senior wide receiver Phillip Nichols was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday. Today's selection marks Nichols' first career recognition as a CCIW Player of the Week. He is the first Wheaton player to earn the conference's Offensive Player of the Week award this season, and overall he joins Defensive Player of the Week selections Spencer Rowland (Sept. 30) and Robby Schwartz (Sept. 23) along with John Bickle's selection as the Special Teams Player of the Week (Sept. 9). On Tuesday, Nichols was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Nichols scored three touchdowns in the second half of Wheaton's 35-21 win against fifth-ranked North Central on Saturday. He caught 10 passes for 207 yards as four of his 10 receptions went for more than 20 yards. Nichols' first touchdown was a 47-yard catch midway through the third quarter that tied the game at 14-14. He came back to tie the game again at 21-21 late in the third quarter on a five-yard catch in the corner of the end zone. Nichols' final touchdown catch was for 58 yards early in the fourth quarter to give Wheaton its first lead at 28-21. In four seasons at Wheaton, Nichols has 159 career receptions with 17 touchdown catches. His 2,273 career receiving yards ranks seventh in program history.

Dallas McRae named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the second time this season
Wheaton senior defensive lineman Dallas McRae earned selection to this week's D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 63-0 victory at North Park. This week's selection marks the second time this season that the defensive tackle has earned the recognition, also receiving the honor following Wheaton's win at Monmouth in the opening game of the season. All four of McRae's solo tackles on Saturday were tackles for lost yardage as he totaled four tackles for a loss of minus-12 yards in Saturday's win at North Park. He keyed a Thunder defense that held the Vikings to just 99 yards of offense (only 1.6 yards per play). McRae is tied for second in the CCIW in tackles for lost yardage (TFL) this season, with an average of 1.88 TFL in Wheaton's five games. His season average in tackles for loss ranks 35th in NCAA Division III. He has nine TFL this year for minus-47 yards. He is sixth in the conference in sacks with three, averaging 0.60 sacks per game.

Sarah Tomich is named the CCIW Women's Soccer Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Thunder junior Sarah Tomich has been named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Tomich, a six-time recipient of the award, has won the award twice this season. Tomich, the reigning CCIW Defensive Player of the Year, helped lead Wheaton to shutout victories against Carroll and Augustana last week. She scored Wheaton's second goal last Wednesday in a 2-0 victory at home against Carroll. The Thunder shut out Carroll last Tuesday, holding the Pioneers to six shots, with only three shots on goal. Wheaton's second shutout of the week was a 2-0 victory at Augustana as Tomich keyed a Thunder defense that held the Vikings to just five shots with only three shots on goal.

Bethany Hoogerheide named the CCIW Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Wheaton sophomore Bethany Hoogerheide has been named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Tennis Player of the Week by the conference office on Wednesday. This is the first time in Hoogerheide's career that she has earned the Player of the Week recognition. Hoogerheide went 4-0 last week in conference competition. She and teammate Emme Lindquist went 2-0 at No. 3 doubles, beating North Central's Ellie Gallagher and Yaitova Spiegel, 8-7 on October 8, and they earned a victory against Augustana's Kalli Majewski and Leraaen Abbott (8-6) on October 12. She was 2-0 at No. 6 singles with straight-set wins over Gallagher (6-0, 6-1) and Majewski (6-2, 6-2). Hoogerheide is a combined 22-0 in singles and doubles play so far this season.

Wheaton's Ryan Schwartz is named the CCIW's Defensive Player of the Week
Junior linebacker Ryan Schwartz was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday morning. Today's selection marks Schwartz's first career recognition as a CCIW Player of the Week. Schwartz was the leading tackler for a Wheaton defense that held Illinois Wesleyan to to just 151 total yards in last Saturday's 24-10 victory against the No. 17 ranked Titans. Schwartz's 11 total tackles was a team-high as was his eight solo tackles. Schwartz and the Thunder defense held the Titans' offense to just 2.6 yards per play on 57 plays. The Wheaton defense has been impressive in Wheaton's two victories to open the season. Wheaton leads Division III in total defense (103.5 YPG), and the unit has allowed just 13 first downs this season to rank first in Division III. Opponents have just a 52.47 passing efficiency against the Thunder this season, a mark that also ranks first in Division III. The 70 passing yards allowed per game by Wheaton is second in Division III. Wheaton is holding teams to just 5.0 points per game early in the season, a mark that ranks third among the 245 Division III institutions that sponsor football. Wheaton has held opponents to just 33.5 rushing yards per game, a mark that ranks sixth in Division III.

Biddlecome earns the league's award for defense and Whallon is recognized for the award on offense. The duo helped lead Wheaton to a 2-0 record last week with wins against Wittenberg University and St. Norbert College at the Bob Baptista Invitational. Tuesday's announcement marks the second time Biddlecome has earned the award. His previous selection came in his freshman season when he was named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week on October 16, 2017. Biddlecome was spectacular last Saturday night in a 4-1 win against No. 25 ranked St. Norbert College as he registered nine saves with several highlight-reel stops. The visiting Green Knights out-shot the Thunder 21-9 in the match as Biddlecome faced constant pressure in the match. The Thunder netminder tallied one save in the 5-0 shutout of Wittenberg University on Friday in the season opener. Whallon registered a goal and two assists for the Thunder last weekend. He scored the game-winning goal winning goal in the 18th minute on Saturday night in Wheaton's impressive 4-1 victory against No. 25 ranked St. Norbert College. Whallon also tallied an assist on the opening goal of the match against the Green Knights. The senior also distributed an assist on Wheaton's first goal of the season in Friday's victory against Wittenberg University.

Aryn Embretson named the CCIW Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second-consecutive week
Wheaton senior Aryn Embretson was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, by the conference office. Embretson is the recipient of the word for the second-consecutive week, also winning the award on September 17. Embretson placed second out of 171 competitors at the Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday at the St. James Forest Preserve. She finished with a time of 22:24.3 in the 6K, helping the Thunder to a fourth place finish out of 11 teams. Wheaton was the top finishing CCIW team at the meet and Embreston was the top overall CCIW finisher in a field that boasted five CCIW programs in the race.

Sarah Tomich is named the CCIW Women's Soccer Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Thunder junior Sarah Tomich has been named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Tomich, a five-time recepient of the award, helped lead Wheaton to victories against Puget Sound and RIT last weekend at the Bob Baptista Inivtational. Tomich, the reigning CCIW Defensive Player of the Year, won the Defensive Player of the Week award three times last season. In the season-opening 3-0 victory against Puget Sound last Friday, Tomich keyed a Wheaton defense that held the Loggers to just three shot attempts in the entire match. On Saturday Wheaton again stifled its opponent as Tomich was key in holding RIT to just six shot attempts in a 3-1 victory against the Tigers.

Thunder punter John Bickle is named the CCIW's Special Teams Player of the Week
Wheaton, Ill. - Junior punter John Bickle was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Special Teams Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday morning. Today's selection marks Bickle's first career recognition as a CCIW Player of the Week. Bickle aided Wheaton's field position advantage all day in Wheaton's 38-0 victory at Monmouth last Saturday. Bickle registered 353 yards on eight punts, averaging 44.1 yards per punt. Five of his eight punts landed inside the Fighting Scots' 20-yard line, including four punts inside the 10-yard line and two punts inside the five-yard line.

Dallas McRae earns selection to the D3football.com Team of the Week
Wheaton senior defensive lineman Dallas McRae earned selection to this week's D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 38-0 victory at Monmouth. McRae shined for a Wheaton defensive line that was outstanding in last Saturday's victory as the Thunder defense held the Fighting Scots to just 56 yards of total offense on an average of just one yard per play. McRae's nine total total tackles was the most of anyone on the Wheaton defense and his five solo tackles was also a team-high. He tallied two tackles for lost yardage (-9 yards) for a Thunder defense that totaled 10 tackles for lost yardage in the game.

Wheaton College (Ill.) Aryn Embretson earns All-Midwest region honors in track and field
Senior Aryn Embretson picked up All-Region recognition in the 10,000-meters and the 5,000-meters. Embretson's school and CCIW record time of 35:44.34 in the 10,000-meter run at the CCIW Championships on May 3 is second in the Midwest Region this year. Her effort of 17:37.45 in the 5,000-meter run on May 4 at the CCIW Championships is fifth in the Midwest Region to earn her a second All-Region accolade in the 2019 Outdoor season. Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. Wheaton College (Ill.) Hannah Roeske named to 2018-2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team
Hannah Roeske of the Wheaton women's cross country and track teams has been named to the 2019 Women's Google Cloud Academic All-District Seven Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA. Roeske earned First Team Academic All-District recognition as a sophomore Applied Health Science major at Wheaton with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average. Roeske earned her second career All-American recognition in cross country in 2018 as she finished 15th at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. The 2018 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named Roeske the 2018 Midwest Region Runner of the Year after her first-place finish at the 2018 Division III Midwest Cross Country Regional. In March, she was a Division III Indoor Track & Field All-American in the one-mile run, earning her sixth career All-American accolade across cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field. Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. Wheaton College (Ill.) Favor Ezewuzie named to the 2018-2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Team
Favor Ezewuzie of the Thunder women's track and field team has been named to the 2019 Women's Google Cloud Academic All-District Seven Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA. Ezewuzie earned First Team Academic All-District recognition as a junior Elementary Education major at Wheaton with a 3.60 cumulative grade point average. Ezewuzie earned All-American recognition in 2019 with two of the honors at the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships and four All-American recognitions last weekend at the D3 Outdoor Championships. She was named the 2019 USTFCCCA Midwest Region Track Athlete of the Year both in the indoor and outdoor seasons. Ezewuzie also earned recognition as the CCIW Track Athlete of the Meet at both the CCIW Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2019. Wheaton College sponsors 21 varsity sports, and Thunder teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. Wheaton College (Ill.) Leif Van Grinsven named to 2018-2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 Men's Track & Field/Cross Country team
Leif Van Grinsven of the Wheaton men's track and field team, has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Seven Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA. Van Grinsven, a senior, earned First Team Academic All-District recognition for the third-consecutive year. A two-time Google Cloud Academic All-American, he is a an Interdisciplinary Studies major at Wheaton with a 3.98 cumulative GPA. A four-time All-American in men's track and field (indoor and outdoor), Van Grinsven recently finished fourth in the decathlon at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. In March, he picked up All-American honors in the men's heptathlon with a sixth place finish at the 2019 Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. He was honored as the 2019 CCIW Field Athlete of the Meet at the 2019 CCIW Outdoor Championships as he won his third-consecutive CCIW decathlon title, with a conference record 7,009 points. During the indoor track and field season, he set a new school record in the heptathlon and won the CCIW Championship in the multi-event competition.
