Wheaton College (Ill.) Michael McCraith is named CCIW Pitcher of the Week
Wheaton senior Michael McCraith has been named the CCIW Baseball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office. McCraith tossed a complete game shutout in Wheaton's 1-0 victory against Augustana last Friday. The senior allowed just two hits, with no walks and he struck out Augustana 10 batters to improve to 6-1 on the season. McCraith leads all CCIW pitchers this season in strikeouts (71), victories (6) and opponent batting average (.178). He is second among conference pitchers in ERA (1.61) and innings pitched (56 IP). Wheaton College (Ill.) Natasha Brown named the CCIW Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Wheaton senior Natasha Brown has been selected as a CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office. Brown won the 200-meter dash at the Benedictine Relays on Saturday. She ran a personal best of 24.95-seconds, which currently ranks second among all CCIW competitors in the events and ninth amont all NCAA Division III competitors. She also placed third at Benedictine in the 100-meter dash 12.58-seconds and ran a key leg of the second place 4x100-meter relay team that posted a time of 47.41-seconds, which is currently ranked first in the CCIW and fifth nationally. Wheaton College (Ill.) Drew Engelking named the CCIW Men's Golfer of the Week
Wheaton senior Drew Engelking has been named the CCIW Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference office. Engelking was the individual medalist last Friday at the inaugural Wheaton Invitational at Cantigny Golf Club. He finished his first round tied for eighth with a score of 76, but shaved off three strokes in the second round, shooting a 73 for a total score of 149. Wheaton College (Ill.) Favor Ezewuzie named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week & CCIW Athlete of the Week in women's Track and Field
Wheaton College junior Favor Ezewuzie received a pair of weekly awards as she was named National Athlete of the Week by USTFCCCA and named CCIW Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. Ezewuzie won the title in four individual events last Saturday at the Wheaton Invitational. She set a new school record in winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.94 seconds and also won the 100-meter dash in 12.13-seconds. Ezewuzie also posted first-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (14.58) and the long jump (5.66 meters/18' 7"). Additionally, she helped the Thunder 4x100 relay squad to a first place finish with a time of 48.12-seconds. Ezewuzie is currently ranked third in Division III the 100-meter dash. She is fifth in Division III in the 200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and the women's long jump. She is the only competitor in Division III women's track & field that is ranked in the top-5 of four different individual events. Wheaton College (Ill.) Jack Guenther named the CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Thunder senior Jack Guenther was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Tennis Player of the Week by the conference office. Guenther was 3-0 in singles competition last week and teamed with Panjwani for a 3-0 record at No. 3 doubles. He defeated North Central's Lucas Pindak 6-2, 6-2 on April 23, earned a win against Augustana's Leonardo Panosso 6-2, 6-3 on April 24, and was victorious against Millikin's Nick Laramee 6-2, 6-4 on April 27. Guenther and Panjwani defeated North Central's Justin Howes and Pindak 8-4, picked up a win against Augustana's Jack Morkin and Caio DeRezende 8-3, and were winners against the Millikin tandem of Laramee and Holden Owens 8-4. Wheaton College (Ill.) Leif Van Grinsven earns All-Midwest Region honors from the USTFCCCA
Leif Van Grinsven, a member of the Wheaton men's track & field team, earned All-Midwest Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week. Van Grinsven earned All-Region recognition in the heptathlon for the third-consecutive year. His 2019 Windy City Rumble effort of 5,139 points ranked third in the Midwest Region this year. In addition to earning him All-Region honors, the effort was a new Wheaton school record in the indoor heptathlon. Van Grinsven also represented the Thunder at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships in Boston, Mass. earlier this month. Wheaton College (Ill.) Hannah Frazier named Second Team All-American by D3hoops.com
Wheaton College junior Hannah Frazier has been named a 2018-19 Second Team All-American by D3News. Today's recognition joins her selection as a First Team All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and D3hoops.com earlier this week. Frazier was named the Central Region Player of the Year and First Team All-Region by D3hoops.com last week. She was named the CCIW's "2019 Lori Kerans Most Outstanding Player" last month. Frazier led the CCIW with 20.0 points per game this season, shooting 49.8% (199-of-400) from the field. She averaged 7.4 rebounds and 3.18 blocked shots per game. Frazier is second in Division III in blocked shots this year with 89 total blocked shots. Her school single-season record 559 points ranks eighth in Division III this year and she is 16th in Division III in points per game. The junior is 13th in the country in field goals made with 199. In two years with the Thunder Frazier is second in program history with a scoring average of 17.5 points per game. Her 84.6 (219-259) career free throw percentage is second in the Wheaton record books. She is seventh in team history with 134 career blocked shots and her 963 career points is 22nd. Wheaton College (Ill.) Aston Francis named 2019 D3hoops.com National Player of the Year
Wheaton senior guard Aston Francis was named the 2019 D3hoops.com National Player of the Year. This season's Jostens Trophy winner concluded his record-setting senior campaign on Friday night with 44 points a National Semifinal loss to UW-Oshkosh, marking the 10th time this season he has scored 40 or more points and the 14th time in his career. His sensational postseason performance set five Division III Men's Basketball Tournament records. His 44.8 points per game in the tournament breaks the previous tournament record of 37.3 points by Kyle Myrick of Lincoln (Pa.). Francis scored 224 points in Wheaton's five postseason games to break the previous tournament record of 177 points by Williams' Michael Nogelo in 1998, The Thunder senior made 72 field goals in this year's tournament as he broke the previous tournament record of 68 field goals by Greg Grant of TCNJ in 1989. Francis' 36 three-pointers in the tournament surpassed the old tournament record of 35 treys made by Augustana's Kirk Anderson in 1993. His 62 points in Wheaton's victory over Marietta is also an Division III Tournament record as well as a school and CCIW record. A two-time D3hoops.com Central Region Player of the Year, Francis leads All NCAA Divisions with 34.2 points per game and broke the NCAA Division III record for points in a single season with 1,096 points. His 173 three-pointers this year is the second-highest single-season total in Division III history. Francis also led the Thunder with 7.9 rebounds per game and finished second on the team with 3.1 assists per game. In his three seasons for the Thunder, Francis rewrote the Wheaton record books, finishing second in points scored with 2,396 career points, which also ranks fifth in CCIW history. He also ranks second in school history with 783 career made field goals, fifth in school history with 443 career made free throws, and 11th in school history with 287 career assists. His 388 career three-pointers smashed the previous school record and ranks seventh in Division III history. His career scoring average of 28.9 points per game established a new school record and ranks sixth in Division III history and his average of 4.68 three-pointers per game is the fourth-highest in Division III history. Francis connected on a three-pointer in all 83 games in a Thunder uniform, a mark that ranks second in Division III history, trailing only Marcos Echevarria of Nichols, who also broke the Division III record this season and finished his career with 105 consecutive games with a made three-pointer. This marks Francis' second All-American nod this season, following a Second Team All-American selection from the NABC earlier.

Wheaton College (Ill.) Anderson Park selected as CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Thunder sophomore Anderson Park was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Tennis Player of the Week by the conference office. Park was 3-0 at No. 1 singles for the Thunder last weekend with wins against Grinnell, UW-Whitewater and Ohio Wesleyan. He defeated Grinnell's Bowen Mince 6-2, 6-3 on Friday. On Saturday he topped Ohio Wesleyan's Jack Hibbard 6-4, 6-1 and UW-Whitewater's Jimmy Engelhart 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 to move to 4-0 on the season. Park and teammate Alex Winter won their doubles match at the No. 2 position against UW-Whitewater, beating Robert Rider and Noah Guillermo 8-7 (7-4). Peters picked up Second Team All-CCIW recognition for the second time in his career, also earning the recognition as a sophomore in 2016-17. He is averaging 8.6 points per game this year, with a team-high 4.32 assists per game and 5.9 rebounds per game. In CCIW play, the senior averaged 8.1 points and was ninth in the conference in rebounds during conference play with an average of 5.8 boards per game. In league action he averaged 4.4 assists per game, ranking third in the CCIW in assists per game. An outstanding defensive player, Peters was often called upon to guard the the top offensive players in the CCIW and in several cases this season, Division III. Frazier receives the conference's Lori Kerans Player of the Year Award this season after earning the CCIW's Newcomer of the Year Award in 2017-18. Frazier averages a team-high 19.7 points per game this season, shooting 48.7% (174-of-357) from the field. She averages 7.5 rebounds and 3.2 blocked shots per game. In conference play, Frazier led the league in scoring with 21.2 points per game and the league co-leader in rebounding with 8.8 RPG. Frazier also led the conference in blocked shots in league play with 3.06 BPG and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.19). Wheaton College (Ill.) Aston Francis named CCIW men's basketball "Fred Young Most Outstanding Player"
Senior guard Aston Francis was honored as a unanimous First Team selection for the third-consecutive year and was chosen by the league's coaches as the recipient of the "Fred Young Most Outstanding Player" award for the second-straight season. Francis is averaging 32.4 points per game this season, leading Division III and all NCAA levels. He has broken his own school record for three-pointers in a single-season with 127 treys and leads Division III with an average of 5.08 three-pointers per game. The Thunder guard has a team-high average of 7.6 rebounds per game and is second on the team with 3.32 assists per game Francis posted outstanding numbers in 16 CCIW games this season. He averaged 32.0 points per game, with 8.0 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game. Francis' 512 points in CCIW play is the second-highest single-season scoring total in conference history, behind the 568 points scored by Millikin's Leon Gobczynski in 1975. Francis led the CCIW in scoring (32.0 PPG); three-pointers (5.25 3PPG) and defensive rebounds (6.56 DRPG) this season. He finished the conference schedule second in the conference in rebounds (8.0 RPG), third in free throw percentage (89.3%), seventh in steals (1.13 SPG) and 10th in assists (2.94 APG). Wheaton College (Ill.) Jacob Panjwani named CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Thunder freshman Jacob Panjwani was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Tennis Player of the Week by the conference office. In his first collegiate action last weekend, Panjwani helped lead the Thunder to a 5-4 win against the University of St. Francis (Ill.) in the season opener on Friday evening. The match tied was tied 4-4 when Panjwani won a third set tiebreaker over Miguel Rayos (5-7, 6-4, 10-8) at No. 3 singles to secure the team victory against the Saints. Additionally, Panjwani and teammate Jack Guenther won their No. 3 doubles match over Fernando Turiel and Thomas Schieffer (8-6). Wheaton College (Ill.) Aston Francis selected as CCIW Player of the Week for men's basketball
Aston Francis was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week in men's basketball by the conference office. Francis has won the award eight other times this season (Jan. 28, Jan. 21, Jan. 14, Jan. 7, Dec. 17, Dec. 10, Nov. 26 and Nov. 19). Francis averaged 42.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in Wheaton's two contests last week. He shot 50.8% (30-of-59) from the field, including 48.6% (17-of-35) from three-point range. Wheaton College (Ill.) Hannah Frazier selected as CCIW Player of the Week in women's basketball
Junior forward Hannah Frazier is this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week in women's basketball, as announced by the conference office. Frazier is an eight-time recipient of the CCIW's Player of the Week award, also earning the recognition on February 4, 2019, December 31, 2018; December 17, 2018; Jan. 8, 2018; Jan. 15, 2018, Feb. 2, 2018 and December 17, 2018. Frazier averaged a "double-double" for the week with 21.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, helping lead the Thunder to a 2-0 record. She added 10 assists, six blocked shots and four steals for the Thunder in the two conference wins. The CCIW scoring leader with 19.6 points per game this season, Frazier is also second in the league in rebounding with 7.7 rebounds per game. The junior is the conference leader in blocked shots with 3.21 blocks per game, a mark that ranks second in Division III. Wheaton College (Ill.) Isaac Odell wins CCIW wrestling Championship at 184-pounds
Thunder junior Isaac Odell won the conference title at 184-pounds. He opened the tournament with a fall just 1:18 into his in first-round match against Sebastian Zaragoza of Elmhurst. Odell won a 9-4 decision against Millikin's Griffin Meeker in the semifinal. The Thunder junior picked up his first career conference championship with a 1-0 decision against against Cody Baldridge of North Central in the championship match. Odell picked up the win on an escape just six seconds into the second period to take a 1-0 lead and he hung on to earn the 1-0 decision.
